A storm is coming... a Dragonstorm! Behold, Magic: The Gathering’s newest expansion, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, will be thundering into the shop during our prerelease weekend. Ian, our Magic: The Gathering expert, is very excited for these dragons to take flight:
“Tarkir is a dragon bonanza. With a new crown jewel for the set Mox Jasper, and powerful cards like Stormscale Scion, you’ll need to watch the skies; the time of dragons is upon us!”
For all of you collectors, the gorgeous new serialized Mox Jasper is the new card you’ll be chasing pack after pack.

And if chasing the meta and dominating your opponents is more your style, you’re going to get very familiar with Stormscale Scion. This card brings a lot of value to a dragon tribal deck, granting potent stat bonuses to fellow dragons, and has the Storm keyword. Storm has a storied past as perhaps the most broken keyword in Standard Magic history. According to Mark Rosewater, lead designer of Magic: The Gathering, “Storm is probably the most broken mechanic we’ve ever created, and it’s caused problems every time we’ve brought it back.” Storm creates a copy of the card for every spell previously played on that turn, meaning you can expect swarms of Stormscale Scions to come crashing down in your games.

If you’d rather slay dragons than command them, don’t worry! Tarkir: Dragonstorm will present plenty of opportunities to slay these scaly beasts. Really, there’s no reason not to get excited for what is sure to be a memorable time in Magic.
For early hands-on experience with Tarkir: Dragonstorm, join us for our prerelease events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 4-6th. During a prerelease event, you will open a prerelease kit containing 6 booster packs. Then, you’ll use those cards to make a deck and battle against other players in 3 rounds of fast-paced Magic action. It’s the perfect way to get your hands on the new cards early and enjoy creative, low-stakes games before players develop dominant strategies. You can sign up online now!
